2021 IIDA DesignWorks Award for Education Goes to The Continuum

MPS was honored this month to win the IIDA Carolinas Chapter 2021 Designworks Award | Education for The Continuum. A regional center for education and training in innovative and technical skills and workforce development, The Continuum is the creation of a collaboration between The Darla Moore Foundation, Florence-Darlington Technical College and Francis Marion University. It is located in Lake City, South Carolina.

Here’s what the judges had to say…

“Strong combination of structure and beauty — the wood is effective as a vernacular reference. Clean, powerful finish.”

“The star of this project is the exterior, building massing, materiality, site planning / landscape design and beautiful considerations for the lighting. The exterior to interior structural members are beautifully unique and sculptural — making the building highly unusual and robust with light, air, and vitality.”

Congrats to our partners: Thompson Turner Construction, Britt Peters and Associates, RMF Engineering, SeamonWhiteside, and Visit Lake City SC.
