One of our partners on the Cherokee Youth Center project, Barnhill Contracting, took photos last week of the addition to the existing youth center on Acquoni Road in Cherokee, NC.
Once complete, the 50,000 SF addition will include a multi-purpose room, art room, music room, and classrooms for afterschool activities for local ECBI youth ages K-12. Outside there will be an amphitheater, ball court, and a new playground. Lindsey Rhoden, one of our architects who worked on the building design, loved hearing from the staff and users whose feedback continually encouraged us to make sure this is a place that celebrates the Cherokee culture and is also a fun space for kids!
“There is going to be a slide inside from the second floor to the first, and I personally cannot wait to see it in use!” Rhoden said.
It’s always a thrill to see a design come to life. Especially one that will serve the youth of a community. Many thanks to the whole team, the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI), and our other wonderful partners.
