Clemson University Larry B. Penley Golf Clubhouse, Announced

Representing team and individual National Championships and one of the most successful coaches in the nation, a new golf facility for Clemson University needed to showcase a Division One Golf Program worthy of national recruitment caliber, honor past successes, and enhance the natural beauty of its surroundings. A narrow and scenic site led to our design of a compact three-story building with aesthetic expression of regional golf traditions.

The 7,000 square foot facility incorporates a physical training center, group meeting spaces, and areas for dining, social interaction, and study for a team of twelve. A club repair shop, computerized putting analysis area, locker room, and coaches offices are supporting functional spaces.

Registered for LEED Silver certification, sustainable and durable materials available locally were used, including stone, heart pine floors, and cypress ceilings. A natural light cupola and operable interior windows with abundant glass enhance the shaded porches, outdoor living areas and stone patios used for team events and receptions.
