Crisis Ministries Starts New Facility

“It began as an improvisation. The 14,000-foot converted warehouse was, well, a warehouse. It wasn’t designed to be a homeless shelter. But it sufficed for about 20 years. On Tuesday, Crisis Ministries officially declared an end to an era with a groundbreaking ceremony that drew about 300 civic leaders and supporters.

The new eco-friendly building will replace the current men’s shelter, reorient the Crisis Minstries’ campus, anchoring the end of Walnut Street, and enable staff to increase the number of beds it offers veterans from 14 to 40. It will include a variety of up-to-date amenities in its 30,000 square feet space.”
