Charleston County Public Library re-opened the Johns Island branch with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 23 after being closed for a year. There were activities for kids and library staff on hand to show off all the exciting changes. We’re so happy to see people back in the library, enjoying the spaces designed especially for them!
We designed and executed renovations that will promote technology integration, adaptability, and staff productivity. The new branch has separate areas for young adults and youth with sliding glass partition walls. The update also includes additional quiet rooms for group meetings / study sessions, and space-making elements like sliding glass partitions for sound control, appropriate lighting, and acoustics management. Visitors to the new libraries will notice similar interior design elements with unique accent colors and wall graphics. You can see that John’s Island’s color is green! (Each of the 5 Charleston library branch renovations center on their unique color scheme). This is the second of five renovated Charleston County libraries to reopen to the public.
