McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture is proud to announce the promotion of Lisa Lanni to Greenville Office Director. Lanni earned her Master of Architecture from Clemson University in 1993 and joined the firm upon graduation. She became a principal in 1998 and has served as the Community Studio Director over the past 20 years. Throughout her tenure, Lanni has played a key role in the growth and development of Greenville’s downtown starting with a cohesive grouping of award-winning, adaptive-use projects along Court Street: Micco Corporation, Soby’s, Soby’s-on-the-Side, Kent Court, and the Old Chamber Building.
Lanni’s design approach — based on promoting connectivity and social interaction, respecting our historic and cultural resources, and valuing human scale and sustainable design — has been key in over seventy exemplary works of sensitive urban architecture within the Community Studio’s portfolio. A few of the most recognizable are McBee Station, The Warehouse Theater, The Children’s Museum of the Upstate, Mast General Store, and Judson Mill Mixed-Use.
Lanni is a recognized community leader who is passionate about the city’s growth and success. She has served on the City of Greenville’s Design Review Board and the Construction and Maintenance Board of Adjustments and Appeals. She is past Board President of the Greenville Humane Society and a current Trustee of the Clemson Architectural Foundation. She is also the founding director of the SCAIA’s Upstate Women in Architecture Forum.
In 2019, she hosted IdeaXChange: Workforce and Affordable Housing, with Urban Land Institute, an open forum focused on engaging the broader community in conversations about issues that are important to the future development of our society. The forum addressed local challenges and presented solutions for affordable housing in relation to Greenville’s Downtown Strategic Plan.
In her new role, Lanni’s focus will be continued community involvement by leveraging the collaborative design culture at MPS with the firm’s dedication to making Greenville a great place to live, work, and play. (First reported by Upstate Business Journal.)
