As an important adaptive reuse project for Mercer University, the former Georgia Music Hall of Fame building in downtown Macon was recently renovated into a new medical office building to support the University’s School of Medicine. After a careful assessment of the existing three-story, 45,000 SF structure which sits on 3.2 acres in downtown Macon, the design team at McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture created a phasing plan to bring the building up to current codes and prepare it for medical office use. Programmatic elements include upfit of the interior to comprise over fifty exam rooms, treatment rooms, and specialized exam areas, a collaborative radiology/imaging and dialysis center, and administrative office spaces.
The building currently houses Mercer Medicine — the multi-physician practice and subsidiary of the Mercer University School of Medicine and the Mercer Health Sciences Center.
