McMillan Pazdan Smith Earns CEFPI Design Awards for Excellence in School Building & Design

McMillan Pazdan Smith has received two Excellence in School Building & Design Awards from the South Carolina Chapter of the Council of Educational Facilities Planners (CEFPI). The two projects among four honored in the competition were the Center For Advanced Technical Studies for School District Five of Lexington and Richland Counties in Chapin, SC, and Meeting Street Academy in Spartanburg, SC.

The Center for Advanced Technical Studies (pictured above) is an 80,000 SF occupational training center designed to emulate the workforce of demanding new industries in South Carolina within a representative “real world” teaching environment. The facility offers a multi-purpose room accessible after hours by the community for special events or open exhibitions.

Meeting Street Academy (pictured below) provides under-resourced families with a life changing educational opportunity. Bright and playful interior design sparks the imagination of students and visitors. The renovated building has also helped revitalize an under-utilized shopping center in the heart of Spartanburg.

The selection honored entries that demonstrated vision, innovation, and overall excellence in their planning, design, and construction. CEFPI is a worldwide organization of 4000 members involved in the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of school and college facilities.
