McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture is excited to announce the relocation of the firm’s Greenville office to the second floor of the former Claussen Bakery, an 84 year-old structure on Augusta Road owned by the Furman Company. The firm intends to occupy 16,000 SF of the building with comparable office and retail space available for lease on the first floor.
McMillan Pazdan Smith desires to couple the historic nature of the structure with elements of contemporary architectural features that complement the firm’s philosophy for design. The space will be transformed by sandblasting the building’s interior brick walls and structure to their original color. All operable windows will be replaced and nineteen foot high ceilings with exposed trusses will create a light-filled central studio space surrounded by private offices.
In order to create an enjoyable work space promotes an active lifestyle, the office will have showers on site for employees who want to take advantage of the office’s proximity to the Swamp Rabbit Trail. It will also have an outdoor terrace space for employees to enjoy an alfresco lunch or host client functions.
The move supports the firm’s commitment to economic development in the Greenville area as well as adaptive re-use. “Our main goal for this transition is two-fold, we want to assist in the renaissance of the Haynie Sirrine/Augusta Road Area, while also creating a work environment that is both practical and functional,” said Joe Pazdan, Managing Principal.
The firm is expected to occupy the renovated space by December 2014.
