On Wednesday, McMillan Pazdan Smith joined Mayor Knox White, members of the Greenville City Council, representatives from the local community, and lead designers MKSK to visit the future site of Unity Park on the west side of downtown Greenville. Our intern Lawson Day (pictured below)n got the chance to take in the view from the proposed site of the park’s observation tower. McMillan Pazdan Smith is the architect of record for the park’s visitor center in addition to several event spaces and shelters throughout the park.
Straddling the Reedy River, the park will add 60 acres of public green space to the city. The park will feature event spaces, walking paths, a pedestrian bridge, playgrounds, splash pads, and shelters. The city held a groundbreaking ceremony in May and the park is scheduled to open in 2021.
