Mercedes-Benz Vans Opens New Marshalling Yard in North Charleston

Mercedes-Benz Vans held the grand opening of their new marshalling yard in North Charleston, SC last week. McMillan Pazdan Smith collaborated with Thomas & Hutton on this facility to expand the operational infrastructure and allow Mercedes-Benz Vans to provide enhanced customer service and purchase experience to their US market.

The new marshalling yard includes 30 carrier loading lanes, 50 EV charging stations, three inspection lanes, an all-new workshop with 22 full-size van inspection and prep stations, a full-size van wash, and an all-new office building. Within the facility, each van will receive basic services like a tune-up, tire pressure check, car wash, owner’s manual insertion, and windshield wiper fluid top off, so dealerships receive new vans in pristine condition.

The design for the main automotive building allows significant natural light for the benefit of the employees and incorporates as much column-free open space as structurally possible for easy maneuverability of the vans in the building.

Thanks to our whole team for bringing this project to completion. ADC Engineering, McVeigh & Mangum Engineering, HOWCO, S&ME, and James R. Vannoy & Sons Construction.
