MPS Expands North Carolina Team with Cort Architectural Group Acquisition

McMillan Pazdan Smith is excited to welcome the team of Cort Architectural Group into the firm, adding significant design and project management experience in the education sector through the addition of John and Hamilton Cort.

John Cort, AIA, LEED AP, is based in MPS’s Asheville office and joins our team as Senior Architect. Over the course of his accomplished career, John has had a significant impact on many of the region’s institutional campuses: Appalachian State University, Western Carolina University, Asheville-Buncombe Technical College and Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute.  John has also been the Principal Architect for many high schools in the region, counties include: Buncombe, Jackson, Polk and Burke. He is active within industry and community organizations, having served on Memorial Mission Hospital’s Board of Directors and the City of Asheville Planning and Zoning Commission, as well as holding roles as Asheville AIA President and Board of Directors’ Secretary for AIA NC.

Hamilton Cort, AIA, LEED AP, joins our Charlotte office as an Education Segment Leader and Project Architect. Hamilton is a recognized leader in the design of K-12 facilities, and was recently selected to serve as the incoming president for the North Carolina Chapter of the Association for Learning Environments (A4LE). He is involved in several Charlotte-area civic advisory roles, with a vested interest in the growth and success of the city.
