The apartments formerly known as Lee Walker Heights have a long public housing history going back to 1950. In 2019, MPS and David Baker Architects were commissioned to develop a master plan and new design to replace the outdated original buildings.
The new complex, now named Maple Crest, will house 212 families of varying income levels from 30-60% AMI. Residents of the original Lee Walker Heights will have first right of rental to the new units which include efficiency updates in heating, electrical, and plumbing systems. There is 9,000 square feet of common space including play areas and parking. A new road has been added off of Biltmore Avenue to better connect this neighborhood to the growing downtown area. The complex also enjoys excellent views of the nearby mountains.
The updated development is nearly complete and currently accepting leases.
