Markley + Main is a proposed 270+ multi-family development in Greenville’s Historic West End, located across Markley Street from Fluor Field. “We’re big proponents of placemaking and want to make sure this is being done with plenty of community input,” SunCap Property Group’s Senior Vice President David Lee said about the BOR-approved project.
Read the news in the Upstate Business Journal to learn what our design team has been working on for this exciting development. It will include five stories of residences over a one-story retail base along Markley and Main Streets wrapping a seven-story precast concrete parking garage.
This building will be set back from the corner of Markley and Main to create a new public plaza with movable street furnishings. The portion of the garage visible from Greene Avenue and Vardry Street will be screened with perforated metal mesh panels featuring a custom art mural recalling the history of Greenville’s West End.
A second, five-story building fronts Greene Avenue and Vardry Street and will feature residences with ground-level stoops and upper-level balconies. A new alleyway will be created to promote safe pedestrian interaction between Main and Vardry with access to residential courtyards and amenities.
Working in collaboration with the adjacent property owner, the north alleyway will also provide access to parallel parking and pedestrian crossings to the adjacent property in a cohesive design.
A large green space fills the southwest corner of the site and serves as both a semi-public amenity for the residents and a buffer to the adjacent townhome development. The project is a collaboration with Suncap Property Group, Cline Design Associates, and SeamonWhiteside. Stay tuned for future updates on the newest addition to Greenville’s booming West End.
