Having outgrown their existing headquarters, the Adams Outdoor media company sought architectural services from McMillan Pazdan Smith to create a new headquarters in Charlotte, NC. Located on a prominent site along I-85, the building functions as a landmark and highlights the creativity of their graphic design services.
Large interchangeable supergraphics on the glass façade act as an advertising surface to showcase their clients while the design creates a two-story presence using the natural topography of the site. Working from a list of all employees and anticipated growth projections, the design team developed the space program, functional adjacencies, and layout to serve the company well into the future. The upper story of the building houses administrative and office functions. The lower story of the building houses a billboard fabrication shop and boom truck garage. The shop layout incorporates spaces for light carpentry, setup, and mockup creation, with the appropriate exhaust fans and ventilation for those uses.
