Amelia Island Dual Branded Hotel by Marriott

The design of the Courtyard / SpringHill Suites Dual Brand on Amelia Island was strongly influenced by the building’s location. The site offered a great opportunity for ocean views due to its location across the street from the beach and a zoning that disallowed anything to block the view except single family residential homes up to 25-feet tall. As a result, 78% of guest rooms offer a view toward the ocean. By designing an integrated parking deck partially under the building rather than a separate structure on the site, we were able to minimize the impact on the protected dunes and existing live oak tree canopy.

As the first dual brand project completed by the firm, the design team successfully navigated the complexities of integrating two different prototypes and target demographic needs within a unified exterior envelope design. The façade and porte cochere design were inspired by coastal vernacular homes in the Amelia island area. The program consists of 250 guest rooms, a full-service restaurant with an indoor-outdoor bar, two lobbies, sizable meeting spaces, large pool/courtyard amenities, and parking to accommodate these functions. The project groundbreaking was held in November 2019 and construction is estimated to complete in 2021.
