Quantix, Transloading Export Facility

Quantix, formerly A&R Logistics, is North America’s leading supply chain services provider for some of the world’s largest chemical companies. In an effort to enhance their operations along the east coast, they commissioned McMillan Pazdan Smith to design a new, 615,000 SF, world-class export facility near the Port of Charleston in West Branch Commerce Park. The Park, conveniently located near I-26 in Berkeley County, is a Class A industrial campus and is the closest CSX Rail-served site to SC port terminals. This project was developed in close collaboration with the South Carolina Ports Authority (SCPA) and the State of South Carolina. Rail tracks run along the building’s south side to enable product offloading from railcars where two 68′ tower locations were constructed. The north side of the building includes 72 dock doors where the product is loaded onto trucks for export. The site can accommodate 119 trailers parked adjacent to the dock area.

The building is a steel structure wrapped with a load bearing tilt-wall concrete panel system with a 60-mil TPO roof. There is a 385,000 SF expansion to the west planned that will bring the building total to 1,000,000 SF. The clear height in the building is 36′ and the columns are spaced at 50’x50′ with a 60′ deep speed bay along the northern truck dock wall. There are 72 (9’x10′) truck dock doors and two (12’x16′) drive-thru ramped entrances. The walls include three future knockouts each at 12’x14′. There are 50 car parking spaces on the west side serving a 4,500 SF office, and a 1,000 SF office area is centrally located on the north wall.
