Barton College, eSports
In recent years more than 130 colleges and universities have started eSports programs in the United States. Barton College is one of three such programs in North Carolina. Barton College was entering eSport competition for the first time in 2019 season and wanted a space with “wow factor” for their players and recruitments. Through a series of development meetings, McMillan Pazdan Smith worked closely with college representatives to design a dedicated eSports performance space. The 2,700 SF facility has six competition quality gaming stations, 24 additional gaming stations, coach’s office, broadcasting room, and in-wall AV storage. Recessed LED light fixtures in the walls can change color, large screens display the action, and school branding is integrated throughout the suite.
