Byrd Elementary School, Aiken County Public School District

Serving the Graniteville community in Aiken County, SC, Byrd Elementary was designed on land donated by a private developer to serve as a true neighborhood school. Situated on an 84-acre site, the 90,000 SF design emphasizes an efficient building layout for 850 students and is suited for the future addition of a middle school. Using variations of a neoclassical style, the exterior showcases traditional 19th-century brick detailing, columns, and cornices to instill character and create identity and pride for the new neighborhood.
