This project was the creation of a new contextually sensitive home for the School of Education located in a historic urban setting. The College of Charleston had purchased a protected 7,000 SF, three-story historic building, which was originally built as a mixed commercial and residential facility in the early twentieth century. The college also owned an “L” shaped piece of property which wrapped the existing facility and was the only available space to add the square footage needed to create the 27,700 SF facility needed to house administration, faculty offices, meeting spaces, and resource centers.
