Dorman High School, Athletic Stadium & Arena, Spartanburg School District 6
When the Paul M. Dorman High School Multipurpose Arena and Football Stadium was constructed, it was among the best high school stadiums in the country and rivaled those at many colleges.
The arena accommodates 3,000 spectators. Site lines are excellent and special lighting provides coverage that is even in intensity. The arena also includes a digital video-sound system for assemblies and concerts and a running track around the arena’s upper perimeter.
Built in a natural ravine behind the school, the stadium includes 10,000 seats with a grass bank for extra seating.
Other sport amenities include lighted softball and baseball fields, separate soccer fields sharing their own soccer stadium, and a field dedicated to track events. Since completion, booster club sales have skyrocketed, with 2,000 permanent seating licenses sold to Dorman Cavalier fans. The school also pioneered new ground in the state by selling the naming rights to the baseball field. The strong tradition of athletics, coupled with remarkable recreational facilities, has renewed excitement, pride, and a positive momentum for the community.
