Dorman High School, Athletic Training, Spartanburg School District 6

Dorman High School wished to incorporate a strength and conditioning program into their athletic facilities. Understanding their need for an appealing yet functional and cost-effective space, our team worked with the district to design a 21,000 SF addition including an extra weight room, a college size basketball court, and an indoor 40-yard dash track. At 7,400 SF, the additional weight room triples the size of their existing weight training capabilities. The roll-up door between the weight room and indoor track allows for individual training spaces, or if opened, access directly from the weight room to the gymnasium. Plenty of natural light and retractable bleachers give the space an open and airy feel. Also included in the program is the inclusion of sports turf across the street from the new addition and a 12-inch deep sand pit. The project was completed in August 2014 in time for the new school year.
