Dunwoody Nature Center
As Dunwoody Nature Center entered its fourth decade of service to the City of Dunwoody and the greater Atlanta metropolitan area, they engaged McMillan Pazdan Smith and Bohler Engineering in a master planning exercise to explore how they could maximize their facility program. The unique challenge for the design team was to expand services without enlarging the existing building footprint or disturbing the topography of the site, the heart of the private 501(c)3 organization’s vision.
Designed to be dynamic and modular, the new LEED Certified building was designed to serve as a teaching tool in both form and function, allowing simultaneous programming on campus. Replacing the program of the current nature center, the 9,100+ SF design includes multifunction space, exhibits, event space, a community lounge, and meeting space.
