Elliott Davis, Charlotte

In 2015, Elliott Davis chose to relocate their Charlotte, NC office to a premier new midtown office building. Located in the creative South End district, adjacent to both the historic Dilworth neighborhood and Uptown, the modern mixed-use building demanded a dynamic approach to their new space that was both progressive and contextual. Working closely with McMillan Pazdan Smith, they were able to carry over much of the cutting-edge aesthetic the same design team had recently created during renovations to the firm’s Greenville, SC corporate headquarters.

Occupying the two upper floors of the new seven-story building, the office space is anchored by a signature monumental staircase. A wooden ribbon inlaid in the tile ceiling connects the floors and acts as a unique architectural detail in an otherwise clean and crisp color palette. To maximize access to natural light for every employee, private offices with glass walls are located centrally and workstations are arranged along exterior walls. Conference rooms in a variety of sizes were designed exclusively for client meetings. Eight “war rooms” were created specifically for internal meetings and brainstorms, as well as the large boardroom. The large outdoor terrace connects to many of the shared community spaces located on exterior walls and provides easy views of both the Uptown skyline less than a mile away and the lush canopy of the tree-lined streets below.
