FedEx Distribution Center, Multiple Locations
The Fortune 500 global packaging company, FedEx Ground Packaging System, partnered with our firm to provide new distribution facilities to their specifications in the design-build format. The projects also featured redesign of their metal building prototype to tilt-wall construction on a preselected site.
The first facility is 236,976 SF with 30′ and 8″ high bays; 61 loading docks; 7 drive-in doors with 180 interior van loading positions; 161, 28-foot exterior trailer stalls; 40′ long trailer stalls; and approximately 7,500 SF of office space. The project also features a 2,850 SF security building, remote fueling island, and a locker shelter. The exterior features tilt-wall construction with a reveal pattern paint scheme to break up the overall mass into smaller elements, and a color scheme that highlights the building and incorporates FedEx brand colors.
The second facility is 254,400 SF with 40′ high bays, 98 loading docks, 166 interior van loading positions, 195 exterior trailer stalls, and approximately 11,000 SF of office space. The project features a vehicle maintenance facility, remote fueling island, and a gateway security building.
While FedEx provided a prototype drawing set with specific design criteria for placement of their state-of-the art sorting equipment and vehicle traffic, our team was still responsible for providing a building that met their specific needs and conformed to local building code requirements.
