Florence County Museum of Art
Awarded: AIA South Carolina, Design Merit Award, 2016
The Florence County Museum is a 28,000 SF art, science, and history museum built in Florence, South Carolina’s downtown cultural and historic district. The new facility houses permanent and rotating galleries, classrooms, support spaces, and features a central courtyard for outdoor displays and events. The unique façade allows the museum to blend with adjacent traditional brick retail buildings while presenting a more formal entrance facing the neighboring cultural buildings.
“Nothing short of a fantastic, Smithsonian-quality museum.” – Florence Mayor, Stephen Wukela
