Goodwill Industries

Goodwill Industries challenged our design team with creating a new, updated aesthetic, reflecting the context of the local community it serves, all while conforming to the client’s standard unpretentious budget for new facilities.

The sales floor of the retail area is complimented with warm neutral tones and strategically-placed corporate colors and signage. The new building incorporates Goodwill’s Job Connection facility, their hallmark job placement and training program. The Goodwill’s concept of providing jobs for those in need is reflected in the floor finish, a product that’s made from reclaimed fishing nets; the floor manufacturer trains and employs those struggling to find work by teaching them to gather nets from water sources in order to turn them into carpet. Likewise, Goodwill’s core-philosophy is to provide unemployed or under-employed individuals the skills needed to find work and ultimately succeed in today’s marketplace. Our team unified our industry’s products and Goodwill’s mission to create a space that speaks to the client’s ideology.

A linear step finish motif was incorporated in the Job Connection and in the restroom floor and wall tile. This staggering theme not only developed an energetic interest in material, juxtaposing with the exterior’s nominal, unvarying metal panel texture, but aligns with Goodwill’s creed of guiding one another in the next steps of their journey.

Employee spaces were afforded the same inspiring, creative finishes that were utilized in public areas. The locker-room and break area feature low-maintenance flooring, showcasing Goodwill’s corporate colors. Through these carefully-chosen details and finish selections, Goodwill Industries’ aspirations became a reality.
