Greenville Spartanburg International Airport (GSP), Terminal Expansion
As the local architectural team member for aviation design experts, RS&H and Michael Baker International, McMillan Pazdan Smith provided a regional and historical perspective to the 400,000 SF renovation and expansion of the terminal at GSP International Airport in Greer, SC. Serving as a local design liaison between the Owner and Michael Baker International, our firm understands the architectural vernacular, history, culture, and community identity of this important economic development asset.
Through community knowledge, historic photos, and tours of the area, the McMillan Pazdan Smith team members shared a historical perspective of existing features such as the airside gardens, restaurant, concourse design, landscaping and artwork to help aviation designers understand context and evaluate improvement options. The interior upfit included the design of retail, ticketing lobby, security checkpoint, and both concourses A and B. We facilitated meetings with business organizations such as the local Chambers of Commerce and the CVB for community input and have facilitated meetings with local planning and code officials.
