Jacob Cornsilk Community Center

McMillan Pazdan Smith worked closely with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI) on a new community center to serve members of the tribe near Robbinsville, NC. A major goal of the project was to create a community space that embodied the EBCI and provided a wide range of community services under one roof. The finished 46,370 SF space features:

  • A new gymnasium with basketball / volleyball courts and an elevated running track with elevator access
  • New fitness rooms including free weight & cardio rooms, locker rooms and showers, office area and storage
  • A community library and archive space
  • New office space for community services including police, transit, community health, family support, and administration areas
  • Community meeting rooms
  • A new dental clinic
  • A relocated memorial installation for tribe leader Jacob Cornsilk
  • Beautiful views of the nearby Snowbird Creek

The project was completed in June 2022.
