Jianna, Modern Italian & Oyster Bar
As a long-standing client of McMillan Pazdan Smith, Table 301 Restaurant Group looks to the firm for creativity and guidance in the development of their new restaurant concepts. In 2016, they approached the firm with the goal of creating “a modern Italian restaurant with history.” Working closely with Executive Chef Michael Kramer, the design team carefully blended the vibrancy and life of modern Italian style with the deep roots and old-world heritage of Italian cuisine. Named for Chef Kramer’s mentor, Jianna is designed to showcase a love for the enjoyment of food and people.
Occupying the second floor of the new Falls Park Place building in downtown Greenville, Jianna features a wrap-around New-Orleans-style balcony overlooking the award-winning Falls Park. The open, airy and inviting space is designed to be approachable for everyday dining. The design team worked carefully to create a natural feeling space that had a comfortable “lived-in feeling”, using touches of sleek modern design contrasted with more rustic materials. Accordion doors all along the balcony allow the outside to become part of the atmosphere in good weather. In collaboration with Chef Kramer, the design team used air curtains to create an open chef’s pass in the middle of the dining area, allowing the executive chef to be on display as he directs his kitchen staff while also meeting code regulations.
