Lidl Grocery
When Lidl US announced their plans to enter the US market in Fall 2015, their lead civil engineering firm, Bohler Engineering, selected our fir as one of the first regional architects for the facility rollout plan. Entering a highly competitive new geographic market as an international specialty grocer, Lidl’s US launch dictated an aggressive rollout schedule. To support the speed of service the client needed, McMillan Pazdan Smith created a dedicated “Lidl Team” within our firm’s Corporate Studio. This design team worked closely with Bohler and Lidl US on multiple simultaneous project schedules to provide full design services, from site adaptation of Lidl’s prototype design through construction administration.
Challenged with a wide variety of municipal and local guidelines across the region, our design team’s ability to navigate the unique requirements of each jurisdiction was invaluable to the success of the rollout. Each project’s successful completion was highly dependent on the team’s extensive knowledge base of grocery retailers’ operations. Likewise, our thorough due diligence work during front end phases was vital to ensuring each project achieved its goals.
To date, McMillan Pazdan Smith has worked on over 30 Lidl locations throughout South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia. The firm’s Lidl team continues to work closely with Lidl US, LLC to provide ground-up construction and upfits to accommodate their ongoing national rollout.
