MUSC Consolidated Services
Amid continued expansion of services and facilities across the Lowcountry region, MUSC Health System sought to centralize their sterile processing and material distribution services, ultimately improving sterilization quality, introducing process efficiencies, and creating cost-savings. In 2018, the health system brought together a team that includes developers SensusOne and Belimed, McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture, Evans General Contractors, and DWG Engineers to bring their vision for a single off-site supply hub to life.
The 106,000 SF, state-of-the-art processing center is sited to serve all MUSC facilities across South Carolina. As part of the operational strategy for the 24/7/365 facility, SensusOne and Belimed provided a turn-key facility that manages acquisition, installation, and commissioning of the highly-technical equipment and infrastructure. The project also includes a 25,000 SF processing area for decontamination, washing, packaging, and sterilization of hospital equipment and tools, as well as 6,000 SF of office and administrative space. Additional utilities include power generation, storage and distribution of compressed air and purified water, air-cooled chiller, boilers, and air handling units. We also designed a building automation system to control and monitor pressure differential in critical areas throughout the facility.
