Northwood Church
In 2006, a fire destroyed Northwood Church’s sanctuary and pre-school. This unfortunate event provided an opportunity for a comprehensive look at the needs of the church and school campus. After months of reviewing every option for rebuilding and remodeling, the decision was made to build the facilities on a new Berkeley County location, where a local developer donated acreage in the Carnes Crossroads community. The 60-acre site allowed the owner to consolidate facilities for the church and two schools, which are currently located on satellite sites, and operate on one master-planned campus. Phase I of the project included a 70,000 SF sanctuary, youth building, children’s chapel, child development center and administrative offices, while Phase II included a 51,000 SF K-5 lower school, athletic fields and cafeteria/gymnasium
