Piedmont Technical College recognized the need for more space in their existing admissions building to accommodate financial aid advising and business affairs departments. McMillan Pazdan Smith was chosen to provide programming and architectural design services for the 2,800 SF addition and 9,964 SF renovation. The building’s site positions it prominently on campus, allowing it to also serve as a Welcome Center for prospective students and a Resource Center for current students, faculty, and staff.

The addition serves as the “face” of the school with a new entry way and large clerestory windows to make the space inviting for visitors and newcomers. The lobby includes an interactive enrollment center, financial advising and admissions offices, and student computer kiosks. Renovations of the existing space include testing rooms, a breakroom with kitchen, building services, and additional financial advising offices. Interior design renovations feature exposed metal trusses, suspended accent clouds, perforated metal panels, and a skylight for natural daylighting.

Construction completed in September of 2016.
