R.D. Anderson Applied Technology Center, Spartanburg School Districts 4, 5, & 6

With the existing facility at R.D. Anderson Applied Technology Center unable to accommodate increased course work to support Spartanburg Districts 4, 5, an addition was required to add spaces for medical science, technology, graphics, and hospitality. The 26,500 SF addition contains eleven instructional spaces. The hospitality component includes a 2,400 SF culinary arts teaching kitchen with a separate classroom for instruction that includes multiple teaching stations containing equipment necessary for students to learn their way around a commercial kitchen. The medical component was addressed with the addition of four new health science labs. One health science lab was designed specifically for sports medicine and features therapeutic equipment including an ice machine, whirlpool, and exam tables. To meet the continually growing market for technology related careers, the addition also includes spaces for architectural design and graphic arts. The final program components are dedicated to fire protection and protective services with each instructional lab offering access to a covered training area outside that further contains fire trucks and training vehicles. R.D. Anderson has a proud history of preparing well-trained students for their career fields, and the new spaces will allow the school to expand their curriculum.
