Reidville Elementary School, Spartanburg School District 5
Reidville Elementary School was designed as a prototype for Spartanburg School District 5, saving time and money for the growing district. The design also included cost-saving geothermal wells to provide heating and cooling.
The 87,500 SF school for kindergarten through fourth grade was designed with separate wings for each grade. The wings are expandable and core areas can be opened for community use while the remainder remains closed.
Reidville Elementary School was designed with a distinct curvilinear front façade, vaulted main entrance ceiling, and brick architectural detailing. The cafetorium, media center, and gymnasium repeat the vaulted ceiling element and provide open, and well-lit spaces, appealing to an elementary age group.
