River Arts Dentistry
The program includes a reception and waiting area, four operatories, lab space, an office, and staff break room. Our team created a space that reflects the artistic character of Asheville’s River Arts District — which includes neighboring art galleries, studios, and industrial buildings — while still conveying the professionalism of a working dental practice. This was accomplished through custom vinyl graphics, art, branding, logo design, front door design, and furniture selection — down to the threads in the dentist chairs. The team also incorporated exposed concrete floors, structures, and ductwork to create a more industrial feel, also reflective of the Arts District. Refined details and a cool color palette reflect the cleanliness of a dental practice while the maple veneer panels lend warmth to the space. The final product resulted in a unique openness between operatories and laboratory space, allowing for transparency in the dental process, while at the same time providing patient privacy.
The main visual feature of the space is a 10-foot-tall, CNC milled maple veneer wall with an abstract map of the River Arts District. The wall houses storage and lab space while functioning as an artistic installation and visual guide leading patients from the entry to the operatory and lab spaces.
