Sheperd Integrative Dermatology

When McMillan Pazdan Smith designed a new 4,400 SF medical office building for a privately-owned dermatology practice in Mount Pleasant, SC, we sought to be distinctly “non-institutional” in our approach. The building is integrated within the landscape to minimize impact and preserve a host of Live Oak trees. Natural and sustainable materials are utilized throughout, and a strong connection to the site occurs through generous north-facing glazing. In addition to a traditional exam room and office spaces, the design includes a “discovery room” which serves as the waiting room during office hours, and as a flexible space for art exhibits, educational events, yoga practice, and social events during non-office hours.
