Stella’s Southern Brasserie

Located in the newly developed Legacy Square town center, adjacent to the 300-acre Hollingsworth Park residential area of the Verdae planned development, Stella’s Southern Brasserie is the second restaurant for owners Jason and Julia Scholz. To bring their vision to life, the couple selected McMillan Pazdan Smith to guide the architecture and interior design of the new 6,000 SF, 150-seat restaurant.

Taking a consultative approach to the project, the design team guided the client through an extensive discovery process and several rounds of mockups. They then navigated developer approval for the final plans and carefully kept the project on schedule with the developer’s expectations.

The resulting space is inspired by a traditional French “brasserie” with chandelier light fixtures, dark-toned special-order millwork for the bar and tabletops, custom mosaic tile flooring, and a bright subway tile accent wall. The acoustics were left intentionally noisy to create a vibrant neighborhood hangout vibe in the bar area, while the private dining room is more intimate in scale. A separate café and pre-prepared foods area have a more casual residential feel.

The restaurant opened in March 2017.
