The Residence at Oak Grove
As senior housing prices continue to rise, older adults have increasingly limited options for retirement living. Many communities cater to luxury clients with prices to match and the more affordable communities are old and outdated. Seeking to address these concerns, the client engaged McMillan Pazdan Smith to provide a middle market solution that would also enable older adults of the surrounding planned community to retire without having to leave the neighborhood they call home. The Residences at Oak Grove is a new stand-alone assisted living (AL) and memory care (MC) community in the heart of the historic district of Thomasville, GA. Our firm was commissioned to design the two-story, 45,000 SF community to blend seamlessly with the aesthetics of the larger community development while also adhering to the city’s site requirements of positioning the community to directly engage with the entry road with a zero-lot line.
Designed to cater to 84 residents, the Residences at Oak Grove includes 30 MC and 50 AL rooms divided into 66 private, 2 one-bedroom, 8 private deluxe, and 4 semiprivate rooms. Additionally, residents will enjoy quality amenities of a fitness room, spa, salon, activities, and dining. One of the hallmarks of this community will be the outdoor living space with patios, a secured MC courtyard, and walkways with landscaping which will all be amplified by the large, old oaks that were preserved from the existing site.
The new AL/MC community opened in 2020.
