Tri-County Technical College, Oconee Workforce Development Center
The Oconee Workforce Development Center is a unique collaboration between Oconee County School District, Tri-County Technical College, and Oconee County to ensure a ready workforce for existing and new industries locating in the county. This new, one-story, 37,000 SF facility in the Oconee Industry and Technology Park will house new workforce development spaces (including CNC and Robotics) along with student activity spaces, computer labs, several classrooms, and offices. It also features service access for the workforce development spaces and equipment (CNC and Robotics). The modern rustic exterior uses a combination of metal and stone materials and natural daylighting to create a contemporary and inviting space for faculty, students, and staff.
The current site is part of a shared campus created for both Tri-County Technical College and the School District and was an undeveloped tract of land within the Park located on Scenic Highway 11. Our project team approached the building design based on the material aesthetic of the Highway 11 corridor while showcasing progressive technological vision. Construction completed in the Fall of 2018.
