UNC Charlotte, Fretwell Café

UNC Charlotte selected our team to plan and redesign the existing café in the Fretwell Classroom Building. The existing coffee shop was dark, worn and had limited offerings due to tight food service conditions. The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences opted to add a small irregular shaped classroom to the square footage of the existing café in an effort to make more space for the café to operate with improved food service capabilities, expand window space for a full-time meeting and lounge area, and allow the seating area to remain open beyond serving hours. The café now supports their community of students with a place to be together during extended hours, as a bonus study or recreation spot.
