UNC Pembroke, Bob Caton Football Fieldhouse

The University of North Carolina at Pembroke, originally founded in 1887 as a school to educate Native Americans, has grown into a strong liberal arts institution made up of a diverse student body of over 6,000 students. After fielding a football team between 1946 and 1951, the Braves did not play football again until 2007.

As a part of the resurrected football program, UNC Pembroke chose McMillan Pazdan Smith to lead the design efforts for their new, privately funded Bob Caton Fieldhouse.  Designed to serve both the football and soccer teams, the fieldhouse provides new home and visitor locker rooms, a sports medicine and training area, and a weight room. The administration area includes offices for the coaches along with meeting and conference spaces. The facility also showcases flexible assembly and hospitality venues.

Our design team worked closely with university and state construction representatives to meet and deliver the project according to an aggressive design and construction schedule.
