Strategically located in Renaissance Park, the heart of Spartanburg’s business community, the College of Business Administration and Economics is a three-story, 66,000 SF building that enhances the physical integrity of surrounding commercial and institutional buildings. Priorities for Upstate included modern facilities, advanced technology, and flexible space to house executive and continuing education classes — and an office environment that embraces and encourages engagement with the business community.
The project was a genuine collaboration involving multiple stakeholders and was designed in conjunction with an adjacent 780-space parking garage commissioned by the city.
McMillan Pazdan Smith served as the Production Architect and Architect of Record, working together with David M. Schwarz Architects to interpret design intent into construction documentation. The design used Building Information Modeling (BIM) software to enhance efficiency, communication among disciplines, and the project team, and enhance schedule and budget adherence.
