Located outside of Summerville, SC, this project consists of a new, 8,000 SF, single-story fire station. The station is needed to improve response time to new housing, schools, and other developments in one of the fastest growing areas of South Carolina. The fire station includes typical spaces such as apparatus bays, a day room, kitchen, bunk rooms, locker rooms, offices, and other support spaces. The station also provides office space for the sheriff’s department and EMS.
The bunk rooms and bathroom facilities were designed to allow more privacy for female fire fighters. The structure is an efficient use of single sloped wood framed building and a pre-engineered metal building for the apparatus bay. There is also a large landscape buffer with a bicycle path in front of the building that connects to the neighboring communities. Large windows were provided into the apparatus bay to showcase the bright red fire engines from the road and bicycle trail.
Construction completed in April 2020.
