Design Excellence = Sustainability
As part of our commitment to Design Excellence, our Stewardship Initiative was developed to to provide resources and tools toward an integrated approach to sustainability, resiliency, and wellness. We work to align best practices in stewardship with client priorities and goals as a natural part of the design process on every project.
If your culture and mission includes environmental or social responsibility as part of an ESG strategy, we can help you establish priorities to make a positive impact. MPS can serve as your guide and partner to the critical decisions that last for decades in the built environment.
Our firm is a proud signatory of the AIA 2030 Commitment, an actionable climate strategy that outlines standards and goals for reaching net zero emissions in the built environment by 2030. We are dedicated to supporting the need for more consistent and rigorous building performance metrics and tracking, and to actively pursuing solutions that reduce the negative impact that buildings can have on the environment. As part of this commitment, McMillan Pazdan Smith has created a Sustainability Action Plan and is tracking progress for the benefit of our clients and the planet.
How does sustainability enhance my investment and help the community?
Sustainability enhances a project by responsibly allocating and managing your resources and capital, which in turn leads to benefits for both you and the larger community your project serves.
How do I decide what designations or certifications are right to pursue?
We partner with clients to establish priorities and evaluate if certification pursuit adds value and aligns with project goals. A feasibility study will quickly determine different certifications that support the project and program, and provide a comparison of available materials, options, and costs.
How do we make sustainability goals easy to achieve?
To guide our process, MPS developed a Design Excellence Worksheet which includes stewardship concepts and goals for consideration at every stage of design. There is no one-size-fits-all solution. We listen carefully, and thoughtfully respond to the needs of each client and project. With focused efforts early in the design process, together we find opportunities that maximize impact and optimize your investment.
